Emmie - Blue Merle Australian Shepherd Atlanta, GA

Miss Emmie is a sweet 2 year old blue merle Aussie with a gorgeous fluffy tail.  She is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations and spayed.

Emmie found herself in a rural shelter so not much is known about her history, other than that her family must have been pretty desperate, because we just can’t imagine someone giving up this girl.

Emmie is a smaller sized Aussie with a stunning coat, it’s very voluminous and soft.  Emmie is a bit nervous with her new surroundings right now, but is always willling to give a gentle tail wag and some kisses.

She enjoyed flirting with her foster Aussie brothers and did well with the girl Aussies in her foster home too.  Emmie could use a little leash work and rides nicely in the car.  Emmie really enjoyed her foster Mom’s periwinkles, and we think they set off her beautiful amber eyes nicely.

This is a super sweet Angel Aussie looking for a kind and loving home to cherish her forever.

Emmie is fostered in Metro Atlanta, interested parties may contact  savmoraussies@bellsouth.net.

Labrador Retriever (mix) - La Mesa, CA

Age:  1 year
Gender:  Male
Color(s):  Black & White - (Unknown or N/A)
Altered: yes
Weight: 70 lbs.
Other: Shoeless is learning how to be an indoor pup, and is doing well w/his indoor manners!! He is crate-trained as well.

Description: Possibly mixed w/aussie, Shoeless Joe Jackson is a cute and goofy puppy. He is great with other dogs, and is a very friendly guy. He alerts to strangers, but is not a big barker. Jackson needs a large yard, since he has most recently been rehabilitating on a cool ranch with ten other dogs, some horses and cats, and a family with a five year-old little girl. Although his five year old companion was great, his rescuer, Jennifer, feels that he would do best with teenagers or adults who are active. He is a strong boy, who loves the freedom and ability to run and play in open spaces. If you have heard or read about his amazing survival story, you already know that he is a loyal, loving boy. Jackson was abandoned in the high desert, where he waited patiently under a tree for days for his owners to return for him. They never did. He was starving and thirsty when finally rescued. His collar was embedded in his neck to the point where Jennifer could barely remove it. She wondered how he had been able to breathe. It took three days to coax JJ to come to Jennifer. She had left food and water for him, but he was afraid to approach her. Finally, with food in hand, he came to her.... and when he did, he gave her kisses and jumped for joy, as he had just found his rescuer!!! Please consider this real-life miracle pup when you are choosing your forever pal. What an amazing pup he truly is..........

UPDATED! Paloma - Recently Rescued Mix in Macon, GA

UPDATE: Paloma has found a home!

The Ask Spike Online staff was recently contacted about this dog rescued from  dismal rainy situation earlier in the week.  Paloma was found about two hours south of Spike's place in a town called Macon, GA.  Here's an excerpt of the story from Thoroughly Muddy Millie:

Yesterday (3/31/09) around lunchtime, I learned about a dog in a potentially abusive situation at an abandoned home. There was no possible way I could ignore this information, so a few hours later, I grabbed a bag of dog food, treats, a jug of water and a couple bowls. I headed over to the house to check it out myself. What I saw broke my heart.

The cutest, sweetest dog was tied to a tree with about an 8 foot leash. It was wrapped around other nearby small trees and brush and really could not move anywhere. It was both scared and excited to see me. At the time, it was pouring down rain. There was no place the dog could go to stay dry. There was a rickety crate next to it, but A) the dog couldn't reach it being that it was stuck, B) it was soaking wet inside it and C) There was a nasty old soaking wet pillow at the bottom of it. I would have rather slept on the wet ground too.

For more information about this dog's situation, please visit this blog by his new foster Mom.  Let's show how we can find a good LOVING home for this deserving dog.

URGENT! Cancer Patient Needs Placement for Rescued Puppies

My name is Jeanette Loggins and I would like to give you a short story of a severe situation I have been.

In November of 2008, I found two fine dogs crossing a busy street that I live on and I knew that if I didnt bring them in, they would be killed and I have seen this on my street many times.  We tried very hard to locate the owners of theses dogs but without any success.

My next step was to call all animal "no kill" shelters but in Georgia there is no available room for dogs anywhere.  Unfortunately, to make matters worse I'm very ill with a terminal lung disease.  I opted against a lung transplant and have been very blessed to live beyond the years given by my doctors; but I can tell that I am getting weak and tired and it's impossible for me to take on any other responsibilities with dogs as I have one of my own and two other rescues. Also,  I have no room nor the financial means with which to take on this added responsibility of these fine dogs and wonderful dogs.

The female dog is a Rhodesian Richback and the father is a Yellow Lab and Akita - two extremely beautiful and intelligent dogs. I was very fortunate to find a good home for the Father with a well-to-do family that could meet all his needs in every way.

Unfortunately, the female was pregnant and I could not place her so I kept her until she had the puppies on January 21, 2009.  All six of them were born healthy and beautiful.

To this point they have been de-wormed, paper trained and potty paper trained.  They are also going to be highly intelligent dogs.  It amazes me how quick they learn something new everyday at the early age of two months.

Attatched to this email are pictures of the parents and the puppies.  It will be painful enough to say goodbye because I love them with all my heart.

These puppies are wonderful and have known nothing but love, hugs and kisses, since the day they were born. I know they will be nothng but a pure blessing and joy to anyone that is lucky enough to adopt them.

Thank you and GOD bless you for sharing the love of dogs as I do.

Sincerely,
Jeanette Loggins
