Amber has done well in her foster home. She gets along great with older kids and loves to play with them since they have the same energy level! Medical Information: Amber is current on shots, spayed and microchipped.

Gordo - Male Australian Shepherd Mix, Atlanta, GA

Gordo (AKA “Big Red”) is a sweet and gentle male Australian Shepherd mix. We estimate his age as 2-3 years and he weighs 55 pounds. Gordo had a wandering eye, and the agility to go anywhere he wanted to and, as a result, he was picked up by the local dog catcher and ended up at the pound. Neutering will keep him focused on staying at home and a sturdy, tall fence will ensure he doesn’t end up at animal control again.

Gordo sits on command, is good with other dogs, small children and cats. Unfortunately, he was also heartworm positive when we got him. Apparently his former owners didn’t know about the importance of heartworm prevention.

Gordo received treatment for heartworms on March 31st and April 1st.  He is doing well, and is available for adoption.

For more information, please visit the Atlanta Pet Rescue (He's at the top of the page).

Gordo is
available for adoption Tuesday through Saturday.

Pepper - Fostered in Loganville, GA

Pepper is two and a half years old. Great with children, other animals, people… She can be food aggressive and she does chase and tree small animals, but she never seems to actually catch or harm anything. She is hyper when not exercised and does jump when hyper. She is smart and does speak and rollover (occasionally she gives a paw). She was spayed a little over a year ago. She has adjusted to the cheaper dog food but I can tell that she doesn’t enjoy it. Our family lives in Loganville, GA.

Tag - Australian Shepherd in Monroe, GA

Tag is a sweet year old red tri Aussie mix who was found on someone’s property in North Ga.  He is a tiny little fellow (about 20 lbs) and is not likely to get much bigger.

Tag is a very sweet fellow who was turned into the shelter after being found by a private citizen along with his sister Dash (soon to be introduced).

Tag knows the command for sit and is very loving.  He likes to snuggle and cuddle, but he’s a little unsure of himself around other dogs at the moment.  Those big “real Aussies” just scare him a bit.  We’re sure he’ll be playing in no time.

Tag will soon be brought up to date on vaccinations and neutered.  Please stay tuned for more updates on Tag’s progress as we get to know him better.  He will be fostered in Monroe, GA.

Wallace Male Australian Shepherd - Acworth, GA

Wallace is a gorgeous 1 year old registered Australian Shepherd. He is neutered and in desperate need of a new home.

His former owner brought him to a vet’s office to euthanize him because she could not keep him contained. He breaks out of crates, jumps fences and runs away if not supervised. Neutering Wallace would have gone a long way to keep him at home. And giving him the training and companionship every Aussie requires would also help immensely.

As you can tell, Wallace is gorgeous! He’s a sweet dog who loves everyone. He just needs someone who is familiar with the breed to work with him. Now that he’s neutered, his drive to roam will be lessened greatly. Wallace is currently in boarding in Acworth.
