A PTD, Pretty Terrific Dog, Finding Homes For Deserving Dogs

Forever Home Needed! Husky/Labrador/Great Pyrenees

Hey!

We need your help finding a forever home for our new friend!!

We picked up our furry friend up from another friend who picked her up wandering around.  It's been about 10 days and no one has claimed her yet!!

We've been looking after her, but because of pre-existing plans (like being gone for the summer and moving from Atlanta after graduation) we've come to the VERY sad conclusion that we can't keep her.  She's about 3 months old (according to the vet) and is very well-behaved.  She has puppy energy, but is very obedient..  She just wants someone to love and someone to love her!!  She's part husky, part labrador, and part great pyrenees.  She doesn't bark and as of yet has not chewed on any of our shoes or other possessions that are on the ground.  She is easily trainable and loves going on walks!!

If you know someone who is willing to give her a good home, please pass the info on or let us know!!

We appreciate the help!!

Lincoln - 14 Week Old Red Merle Male Aussie in Lawrenceville, GA

Lincoln is a 14 week old red Merle male Aussie puppy.  He is currently living in an apartment with a friend of his owner who could not keep him.  His new caretaker also cannot keep as she was told the arrangement would be temporary.

Lincoln is the result of a double Merle breeding and is completely deaf.  Please do not let this stop you from considering him!  He is a lovely little guy who is good with children and very bright.  Teaching a deaf dog is very easy with hand signals.

Lincoln is located in Lawrenceville GA and is up to date on vaccinations.

You can contact his current caretaker at carroll.elsan@gmail.com.

Spike - Small Male Pit Mix in King George, VA; NEEDS rescue by 12/14

Spike is still at King George Animal Control, he has had no applications and I was told he will be killed this coming MONDAY. He is in a kennel next to his sister who cried (it was more like a scream) when I took Spike out for a little walk.

Seems that when the two were dropped off at the shelter three weeks ago, there were signs that the two had not been cared for very well. Spike has a number of sores and scabs on his legs and his back. He is also sooooo skinny, the sores may be because he has been sleeping on a concrete floor for the last three weeks. He also has a number of scabs on the top of his head. One of the shelter staff said that it looks like someone has used the top of his head as an ashtray. Staff recognize that Spike and his sister have probably not had any interest because of the way they look.

Spike is a small pit mix, he is VERY friendly and sweet. I know that if somone could take him in for just a little while, with some good food, some care for his sores, and a lot of love, that he would be adopted very soon. PLEASE Monday is sooooo close. If there is something you can do to help, please.

Syrabi (his sister) also needs rescue ASAP.

Jane - Retriever Mix; Calhoun, GA

Meet Jane.

She has lived her whole life outside no matter the weather conditions.  When her family fed her, someone would just throw some kibble over the fence, and her water was often dirtied by the environment around her, many times green with algae.

Then, an angel named Mary came across her in the small fenced area where she lived, and Mary starting doing small things to make Jane's life better.  She kept asking the family to give up Jane, so she could find Jane a better, but most importantly, loving home.  They consistently refused Mary's pleas.  After constant requests, the family broke down, giving Jane to Mary.

Mary took Jane to the vet for the first time in years, getting a check-up and updating her vaccinations.  During the vet visit, Jane was found to be positive for heartworms.  Mary has been treating Jane treated at her own expense.

When the staff at Ask Spike Online heard about Jane's story, we set up a pay pal account at helpjane@askspikeonline.com, so that Spike's friends can help Mary offset the expenses already incurred for Jane's rescue and care.

Every dollar you give will go to Jane's treatment.  Please be generous.

Brown & White Male Brittany Spaniel Mix - Decatur, GA

Tilson was found recently in Decatur, GA, and his family has not been found, so he is now up for adoption. He was quite the mess when found, but he’s been bathed, groomed, given his vaccinations, and has been neutered in the last week.  Thankfully, he was heartworm NEGATIVE!  He will also be microchipped before he is adopted.

As much as the "finders" would love to keep this little angel, they are not in a position to do so, but, want to ENSURE he goes to the perfect home.   They have given him the name "Tilson," which is the where he was found.  He is a Brittany spaniel, maybe mixed with some other spaniel, but as you’ll see by the photos, he’s definitely a “spaniel”.  This little guy is the happiest, most loving dog they've met in a long time.  And, he is a little clown.   He is young, probably a year to a year and half, weighs about 27 lbs.  He is housetrained, does well in a crate, and gets along well with other dogs.  At this time, it is unknown how he would do with cats, but he’d probably be okay with them.  He has a really good temperament, and is quite the little lover boy.  From experience and his interaction with children at the Paws for the Cause event, it looks like he’d do well with children also.

Animal Action Rescue has graciously accepted him into their program, and he is currently being “fostered.”   He will soon be listed on their site at www.AnimalActionRescue.org.   For now, here are attached photos of Tilson.   He did have a “cherry eye” condition in his eye, but, that was surgically corrected while he was being neutered yesterday.  Since he’s being sponsored by AAR, and they have funded his care, there will be an adoption fee.

If you or anyone you know would be interested in adopting this precious little boy, please contact:

Pirate - Male Australian Shepherd Mix; Bartow County, GA

This handsome boy came in to animal control as an another stray whose owners didn’t care enough to look for. He was transferred to the Etowah Valley Humane Society facility the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized to give him little bit more time to get adopted. Please give this dog another chance in life before he runs out of time.

Pirate is a great dog. Attentive and outgoing. Obedient and enthusiastic. Proud. Friendly towards people and gets along with other dogs. Doesn’t seem to be a big barker. Rides well in cars and leash trained. Strong and agile, with great stamina. Smart.

Pirate is around 1-1/2 yrs old and weights close to 65 lbs. His right eye had been removed sometime ago. That does not effect him in any way and it does not require additional care.

He is up to date on Distemper/Parvo shots and Rabies vaccination, dewormed (tapeworms, hookworms and whipworms) and he has been heartworm tested (he is negative). He also has been (or is scheduled to be) neutered. The adoption fee includes microchip and microchip registration. You will also receive a coupon for free vet check done by a participating veterinarian.

If you are interested in saving Pirate’s life, please visit www.etowahvalleyhumane.org to apply as soon as possible.

Ricky - Red Aussie; Smyrna, GA

Ricky is a very handsome red tri Aussie with a natural bobbed tail.  He is fantastic with kids, dogs and cats and knows many obedience commands.

Ricky was turned in by his family because he just wasn’t the right fit for their home.  Ricky’s former family claimed that he suffers from submissive urination, but his foster family has only seen one incident of this when his foster Dad greeted him a little too exuberantly.

Ricky loves meeting new people and is just a joy to have around.  He walks nicely on leash, loves playing fetch and belly rubs.  There’s just nothing negative we can say - Ricky’s got it all…looks and smarts.  He’s a wonderful dog who deserves a positive and loving home that will cherish him forever.  Ricky is fostered in Smyrna, GA.
